Do you ever feel like your to do lists just won’t get shorter? You seem to be adding things on quicker than you can check them off?
Well sis, you’re in good company because lately my lists have been daunting! Sometimes the best remedy for that overloaded + overworked feeling is to escape from it all with people you love.
Last weekend my hubby and I dropped Immi and Ming off with Granny Jan and we hit the road, turned up the music, rolled the windows down, and headed to the lake! And let me tell you, it could not have come at a better time.
We are so lucky we got to partner with a pretty amazing Airbnb host for a fun weekend getaway.
Located about 200 miles northeast of Dallas, Lake Eufaula is the largest lake in Oklahoma encompassing 102,000 acres + 600 miles of shoreline.
This beautiful area of Oklahoma offers tons of fun activities…like boating, swimming, fishing, hiking horseback riding, and more.
My husband and I met up with our family at the lake house late Friday night, so first thing Saturday morning we headed to the water.

Before we get any further, yes, I planned my lake accessories in advance.
For those of you doing a little eye roll (I know who you are!): Listen. If wearing white tassel Pink Swan Shop earrings and carrying an amazing Perfectly Gifted Frisco tote to the lake is wrong….then I don’t want to be right!
And back to the lake house 🙂
The area around the lake house is truly the perfect place to take morning walks, bird watch, swim, and just connect with + enjoy nature.
Everyone had a blast hiking and exploring…..while I had a blast reading and relaxing on the porch.
To each her own, right?
The house itself might appear like a regular lake cabin. But it is NOT a regular lake cabin.
The owner Barbara calls this place her “artist retreat”. Everywhere we looked we saw Barbara’s original paintings and the treasures she has collected over the years and throughout her travels.
Such a beautiful, relaxing, unique, and comfortable place to stay.
It rained off and on over the weekend, but it definitely did not ruin our stay.
The expansive porch allowed us to sit and watch the rain drip drop into the lake, and the storms brought us some beautiful, fiery sunsets.
To all my Dallas guys and gals: you have to check this place out!
In 3 hours or less you will find yourself at a secluded lake retreat that so many of us busy bees need to relax, re-charge, re-center, and re-focus.
And thankfully, I did just that.
