No matter how long we’ve lived here, my husband and I love exploring Dallas and the surrounding area. So when he told me he wanted to do a quick staycation for his birthday…I was excited.
But in true Hayes style, it had to be a staycation with a twist. One of those…you-drive-an-hour-so-it-feels-like-a-getaway…staycations. Am I making sense? 🙂
Larry was born in Forth Worth, and raised in Fargo. Although you can’t tell by looking at him, he is a farm boy. (Don’t let his fashion-forward sunglass and watch collection fool you!)
To make this guy smile, I knew I had to come up with birthday plans that were no-fuss…and little bit country.
We packed our overnight bags and headed to Pilot Point!
About an hour northwest of Dallas, Pilot Point is home to Ray Roberts Lake, Isle Du Bois State Park, over 300 horse ranches, and the adorable…Lantana Resort.
Lantana Resort sits on a high ridge overlooking Ray Roberts Lake. With stunning views, cute western décor, and outdoor fun on their doorstep, Lantana Resort is a great option for a quick and simple weekend getaway…not far from Dallas.
I also knew we had to do something new and fun while in Pilot Point, and Western Son Distillery was perfect.
In addition to hosting distillery tours, vodka tastings, and special events…they’re currently hosting a summer concert series every Saturday night on their lawn! So fun.
And, I love their story.
After traveling across dozens of states representing various brands, owners Evan and John realized people were looking for locally-crafted, well-priced, high-quality spirits that also supported a cause. Western Son Distillery found their home in Pilot Point, and every batch is tasted and tested to ensure quality and consistency.
My favorite part…Western Son Distillery still supports causes like The Unsung Hero Fund and a Wildlife Conservation Effort. “One thing I am most proud of is that when we succeed, so does our community, ” said Evan.
How can you not love these guys?
Pilot Point didn’t disappoint, and the birthday boy was happy. #thecoolwifeawardgoestome
