If you don’t know Bree, I’ll try to describe her in one sentence: She’s a business-minded, creative-thinking, design-loving, super mom + social media maven…..who’s been called to give to her community.
But before I could dig into her latest project, I wanted to learn more about her businesses (plural!). I had questions like….what is Lavender & Mint Designs all about? What inspired her to create the Iman Project? What motivates her to keep going?
I learned Bree and her husband Carlos live by the following scripture:
“There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.” Acts 20:35
In all the work they do, they seek to empower others and bring people together. “I am a strong believer in community over competition, and I believe that if you give out good juju in life you receive so much more in return, “ Bree said.
One of the ways Bree and Carlos share that “good juju” is through their work with Lavender & Mint Designs. The name comes from Bree’s warm memories of picking fresh lavender and mint from her back yard for her family’s sweet tea. Every evening she and her family would drink their sweet tea together and share meals around their farmhouse table.
Today Lavender & Mint Designs is a successful boutique agency that specializes in custom farmhouse tables, home goods, and specialty rentals. And yes….they build these amazing farmhouse tables themselves!
Bree and Carlos want to help others create their own warm memories, encourage family conversations, and make it possible for families to share meals at their own custom farmhouse table. A year into the business, and there are no signs of it slowing down! Bree and Carlos are busy bees!
As much as she loves Lavender & Mint Designs, Bree calls the Iman Project her “first baby”.
The Iman Project is an event and lifestyle management company that seeks to create beautiful and unique experiences for their clients.
But for Bree, it’s more than just an event planning company.
The Iman Project gives her the opportunity to highlight different aspects of her community, empower women, and bring people together. “I want to create experiences where no matter your skin color, your creed, size, or opinion…you just feel welcome, “ Bree said.
In my opinion The Iman Project’s most recent event, The Boho Market, did just that!
The Boho Market is a popup marketpace that brings local, handcrafted, and vintage items to Dallasites…all under one roof. That roof just so happened to be in Dallas at Fair Park last Saturday.
Imagine 75+ local vendors, yummy food, and amazing music…all in a “jungalow style” environment. Pretty cool, right?
My husband and I spent a fun Saturday afternoon at The Boho Market, and secretly I thought he would be bored after about 15 minutes…but was I wrong! I kept losing him, only to find him deep in conversation with one of the vendors. Not long after, he’d wave me me over to introduce me to his new BFF!
We treasure hunted from booth to booth for a few hours, snacked, and jammed out to the live DJ. We found some items we couldn’t live without…and others went on our wish list for the future. I think we know what we are getting our friends and family for the next few holidays! The stuff we saw was so special and unique…and we love supporting local businesses. (Clearly we like shopping local…did we need to buy hand made coasters, a teakwood wine stopper, etc.? No. Did we leave The Boho Market with hand made coasters, a teakwood wine stopper, etc. ? Absolutely.)
Here are some Boho Market highlights:
Toward the end of our day, LH wondered off again. (If you know him, this is completely normal!) Eventually I found him near the Wild & Air Co booth…and he was wearing a smile I could see from 5 feet away. I could tell he was proud of himself…which I knew meant he had a surprise for me. I was right! He picked out an adorable pair of Wild & Air Co earrings for me as an early birthday gift! So sweet. 🙂
Ask anyone who attended the The Boho Market, and I bet they’ll say they had a blast! 🙂 Not only did we have fun at the event, I’ve really enjoyed learning more about the exciting things happening with the Iman Project.
Keep your eye out for the next Iman Project event. I promise you won’t want to miss it!
