When you google Spring/Summer 2016 Beauty Trends, you see images of bright colored eyeliner, spidery long lashes, blue eyeshadow, and sleek low-slung ponytails…to name a few.
If you get excited when you hear about these trends, then you’re in good company! But if that list sounds like something only beauty daredevils wear, don’t worry. There’s an easy way you can dip your toe in the beauty trend pond: Lipstick
Lipstick is one of the few products that can instantly, easily, and affordably change your entire look!
On days when I’m feeling super uninspired by my closet, I choose my lipstick first. When I choose a shade I’m really excited about and wear it to my closet, the outfit usually falls right into place. Not to mention, putting on a bold lip seems to give me an extra boost of confidence. And THAT’s what makeup is all about.
One of my favorite lipstick shades to wear is orange. Yes, orange.
I’m in luck because Pantone’s Fashion Color Report for Spring 2016 forecasts orangey-reds will be major color players in the fashion, home, and beauty industries.
Meet Peach Echo and its BFF, Fiesta. You’ll be seeing a lot of these two colors in the months to come…if you haven’t already.
When I wear orange lipstick people say things like…”That lipstick looks good on you, but I couldn’t pull it off.” Well, I’m here to tell you…you can!
Chances are you’ve got your lip routine down pat…you wear the same lipstick shades all the time. You play it safe, sticking to colors that “go with” your complexion and follow the rules. It’s time to take a beauty risk.
Just. Try. It. On.
If you don’t like it, wipe it off. Simple as that.
But not every orange lipstick is created equal. I have done the “dirty” work for you and found the best orangey-red lipsticks for Spring/Summer 2016.
1. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in “Sweet Nectar” $5.99 / 2. Too Faced Melted Lipstick in “Melted Coral” $21 / 3. Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in “Cray Cray Orange” $20 / 4. Bite Beauty Cashmere Lip Cream in “Sherry” $28 / 5. Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in “A-Go-Go” $21
If you’re still on the fence, try mixing a little clear gloss with an orange lipstick to sheer it out.
Sooner or later you’ll be taking off the training wheels and graduating to one of my bold favorites.
Inspired? I’d love to hear from you.
