Vacation Vibes: Breathless Riviera Cancun

If you’ve been following along with this blog for awhile, you know I’m always looking for fun experiences to shake up my normal routine! When my husband and I heard about a super social, party-style resort that just opened up in Mexico…we knew we wanted to check it out.

Breathless Riviera Cancun is a vibrant and ultra-modern resort located in the Riviera Maya district just south of Cancun near Puerto Morelos. If you’re looking for an adults-only, all-inclusive week in paradise filled with sun and fun…this just might be the resort for you.

Keep reading for more info on the things we liked about the resort….and the things you should consider before booking a vacation to Breathless Riviera Cancun!

Things We Liked

Easy to get to

Okay, so Cancun might not be the most exotic destination in the world. But it is so easy to get to! Grab your passport, hop on a quick 2.5 hour direct flight from Dallas, grab a cab from the Cancun airport (15 min ride), and ta-da. You’re in paradise. It’s a no brainer!

Beautiful resort grounds & chic accommodations

The resort is divided into three unique areas: the Xhale Club section is for those seeking an elevated level of personal service and luxury (and it costs a little more), the Energy area is for those looking to be social, and the Xcelerate Party Zone is for the wild ones!

We stayed in the Energy section of the resort in a beautiful swim out suite with views of the pool and the ocean. The semi-private pool off our balcony was perfect for evening swims or during the day when we wanted to get away from the action at the main pools.

Pools, Pools, Pools!

We really liked being able to choose a pool or jaccuzi based on our mood that day. All three pools are complete with jacuzzis, swim up bars, lounge areas, cabanas, and beautiful ocean views.  The pools don’t get busy till around 12 PM…definitely a resort full of mostly late-risers.

We spent the majority of our pool time at the Energy pool, but we definitely attended the foam parties at the Xcelerate pool (pictures not included…lol).

The resort had so many different activities to choose from…for no additional cost! We took sailing lessons (I bailed after the first hour), and Larry learned how to sail a hobie catamaran by himself.

We went stand up paddle boardingkayaking, and Larry even took Spanish lessons by the pool. So much fun!

Beach Access & Ocean Views

Some resorts make it difficult to get to the water, but Breathless did an amazing job making beach access easy and hassle free. The sand and the water were only a few steps away from every area of the resort!

We started almost every morning with an early AM walk down the beach toward Puerto Morales. As you can see, a couple mornings were stormy and the sand is a little rough…but that didn’t stop us!

About a mile into the walk, we found an abandoned (we think) house that made for some beautiful photos.

 Restaurants, Bars, & Lounges

There are so many different restaurants, bars, and lounges scattered throughout the resort. Our favorites were the Veuve Clicquot champagne bar and a tapas restaurant called Bites.

Oh, and some of the lounges have swings for seats…….swings!

Service & Staff

The customer service we received from the amazing staff at Breathless was world class! Our favorite was Hugo, our sailing instructor. He was so informative, patient, and went above and beyond to ensure Larry felt comfortable sailing without an instructor. We will definitely be staying in touch!

Things to Consider:

Loud Music

If you go to bed early, or if you’re a light sleeper, this is NOT the resort for you. The loud dance music starts resort-wide around 11 AM, and doesn’t stop till around 2 AM. And let me say it again…the music is LOUD!

Party atmosphere

This is a party resort with a super social, fun, light-hearted atmosphere. If you are looking for an ultra-relaxing, quiet vacation…keep looking.

Room Service

Although we were happy with the food at the resort, I would give the room service a 1 out of 10. We ordered room service twice, and everything we tried was terrible. Like really terrible. If you enjoy ordering in on vacation…you will be disappointed.

Final Thoughts:

We really enjoyed our time at Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa! Overall, we rate the resort an 8 out of 10.

We definitely recommend this resort to friends and family who are looking for a fun-in-the-sun party vacation!
